This Couldn’t Have Gone Better.

The spiders and their cobwebs moved in some time ago.

And I can’t blame ‘em.

My old muck boots are cozy, dry and insulated.

And they’ve been sitting down there at the bottom of the basement steps, dormant, for a long time.

I reclaimed them as my own today, after months of working and waiting, and then working and waiting some more, for my hip to heal.

I swept away the shiny, silver strands and watched the spiders scuttle away.

Then, I bopped them on the ground a few times and tilted them into the light so that I could look for pests of a more noxious variety…

Like the snakes that find their way into our basement sometimes.

Or the yellow jacket that once decided to take a beat in there and did NOT take kindly to me slamming my foot into its resting spot – my poor toes were swollen and itchy for weeks!

Thankfully, nothing was amiss today.

I slid my feet inside, one boot on each foot, without incident.

And then strode out the basement door towards the farm, my hip gliding as smooth as butter for the first time in 3 years.

This farm is my most favorite place on earth – it’s the truest reflection of our hearts, our love, and our shared values.

And these old boots? They’ve carried me for years, across every inch of this farm many times over. I’ve been on a hiatus, and today, I returned home.

Your Farmers,
