When your house is as old as ours, you expect to have some encounters with the natural world.

We were still pretty surprised, though, when we renovated the bathroom several years ago and realized that we were unknowingly cohabitating with a family of chipmunks.

Then there was that situation with a bat that we found darting around the living room one night – Greg luckily made quick work of that.

And the medium-sized bird that came in through the basement and flapped around the house for the better part of the day.

Don’t even get me started with the snakes… I still have nightmares about the last one I found curled up beside the closet in our bedroom! Yes, that’s a true story!

We’ve called this house our home for almost 8 years now. And during this time, we’ve gone room by room, replacing insulation, drywall, flooring, and trim.

Yes, we’ve been determined to freshen up the space. But we’re just as motivated to seal up the plethora of holes (see above!) and do our part to revive the essence of this 200-year-old house.

It’s been an adventure, as you know, and that adventure is going to continue this summer when we move forward with the next project – new siding and a new roof!

We’ve been saving up for and dreaming about this for years now. We’ll share some photos as the project gets underway, but you can catch a glimpse of the “before” when you’re driving to the Farm Store this week.

Your Farmers,
Jenney & Greg

PS – We just brought pigs to the butcher this week and are restocked with EVERYTHING – just in time for your July 4th party! Peruse our offerings and order ahead HERE.
