This is one of our all-time favorite meals – so simple, and easy to make. We love to pair this quick meat sauce with the easiest polenta you’ll ever cook. This quick easy meat sauce recipe was adapted from The North End Italian Cookbook.

Quick Meat Sauce
2 tbsp of olive oil
1lb ground pork
1 small onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped
pinch of dried basil and red pepper flakes
salt and ground pepper to taste
1 28-oz jar of crushed or diced tomatoes

1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When it’s rippling hot, add the ground pork and start to brown it, stirring occasionally.

2. When partly browned, add the onion, garlic, and herbs. Continue browning until the the pork becomes a little crisp on the bottom of the pan, several minutes.

3. Add the tomatoes and combine until the the sauce starts bubbling. Lower the heat, add salt and pepper to taste.

4. Sprinkle some additional basil and red pepper flakes to taste. Let simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently.

5. Once the sauce reaches your desired thickness, serve over pasta.

6. Enjoy!
