There’s someone dear to us I’ve been meaning to introduce you to.

I’ve tried at least 10 times over the years. But each time I’d start putting words down on the page, big feelings would bubble up, and I’d feel compelled to forfeit the idea and choose a farm story that was a little less emotional instead – piglets, anyone?

But I’ve been reflecting on the farm’s 8th anniversary coming up soon. And it’s left me feeling inspired to let you in and share about something, or rather someone, who was and continues to be so deeply special to me – my grandmother, Honnie.

She was small in stature, but a true giant in spirit. She was also a nurse (like me!) and a lover of writing (like me!), and her home – this is where my dad and his five siblings grew up and where I spent a lot of time as a kid – was known in the family as “Stonecrop.”

She’s been gone for many years now, having passed away over 15 years ago at the ripe old age of 98. And yet, just like she promised me in the last conversation we shared a few moments before she died, she’s still here with me as my guardian angel.

After all, this farm came to fruition and was named in her honor.

And this photo of the two of us, taken during a weekly ritual we had of Sunday dinners together, sits beside me as I write and share with you each week.

She’s a part of this farm and always has been. And I wanted to be sure you had a chance to know that the fierce determination you see in me to keep sharing about the farm and the food we grow comes in part from her.

Your Farmers,
Jenney & Greg

PS – It’s a FRESH PORK WEEK, which means we’re restocked with a fantastic supply of organic and pasture-raised meats ready for you! The weather should be great on Sunday, so come out and stock up.
