My mom’s family started going to a camp in the ADKs over 60 years ago. Her family loved it so much, all the way back then, that they kept going back, year after year. This tradition continued through the next generation and the next.

And this is how this one spot in the woods has come to hold so many special memories for my family (meet my siblings, nieces, nephews and parents in the photo above!).

We started the farm 7 years ago. And back then, when farming literally felt like pushing a ginormous boulder up a hill every day, we made the decision to forgo the whole week away and join the gang for just a couple of days instead.

It was the right choice at the time. The stakes were high as we were learning how to manage our pastures, care for all the animals, and build our infrastructure.

And the bottom line was that we’d made promises to YOU – remember when we had fresh chicken every week?! – and we weren’t about to go back on our word just because we didn’t have systems that worked when we were away.

We’ve been working hard over these past few years to rebuild the back end of the farm so that we’re able to take breaks and join family for important gatherings like this. And for all these reasons and more, we were like two little kids, giddy with excitement as we headed up to Big Moose Lake last week.

Delegating the responsibilities on the farm will always be a challenge – we have hundreds of animals walking around these pastures now, and each one of them needs to be fed, watered, rotationally grazed, and cared for.

But we pulled it off, more gracefully this year than any year before. And our week away was pure joy all around, thanks to your support, our growing team, and a few new farm systems – remind me to tell you about the ingenious automatic door Greg invented for the chicken coop!!!

Anyways, we’re back. And we’re feeling more ready than ever to share, and serve, and grow all this amazing food for you. Speaking of which, we’ve got a gorgeous supply of our FRESH ORGANIC PORK and our first Farm Tour of the season happening this weekend.

We hope you’ll come out and join us.

Your Farmers,
Jenney & Greg
