I can’t even begin to count the times when Greg and I have wondered quietly on our own or together in each other’s arms if the farm would work out.
At every one of those metaphorical forks in the road, we’d dig deep, ask for your input, sometimes plea for some divine intervention now and then, and take another step forward.
Early on, we thought our goal – the final destination we were headed toward – was perfection. I remember us thinking about it endlessly in the early days.
Somewhere along the way, though, we realized that this drive for perfection was probably the most destructive mindset we could possibly have.
Not only did it suck the joy right out of the work we loved, but it also made it so the reality of life on a livestock farm – where there’s almost always something going awry – heart-breaking at times.
Once we let all that truly sink in, we decided on a new trajectory for the farm that would keep us excited and inspired for a lifetime ahead. And with your guidance, we realized that Stonecrop Farm is a place where generosity and trust are everything, and quality is a given!
We’ve kept these principles top of mind for years now – they’re written on the whiteboard in the farm office and posted up in the Farm Store, too!
And in looking back on the past week, it’s safe to say that this community just soared to new heights! No – I’m not talking about those tasty donuts you might have seen taking flight in the high winds at turkey pickup. 🤣
I’m talking about YOU and the almost 200 other people who chose to nourish their families with our organic and pasture-raised food this week. And how we worked together to help those in need – on Monday, we delivered an entire truckload of your food donations to an important food pantry in Rochester!
Whether you’ve been with us for years or just a few short weeks, this is the essence of what the Stonecrop Farm is all about. We’re your partners in this work, and we couldn’t be more grateful to YOU for making such an amazing impact in the world.
Your Farmers,
Jenney & Greg
