It has been a busy spring here on the farm. The crazy storm back in March, which boasted 80 mph wind gusts, took down our ginger/turmeric hoop house. This was a devastating blow to the farm but last month we rebuilt the hoop house with a new design. The project was completed just in time to get this year’s ginger and turmeric in ground. We are oh-so happy to report that our hoop house is fairing well in recent wind storms and that our seedlings are over a foot tall and looking great. Harvest time will be in Sept/Oct, but stay tuned for more details.
This season, we also redesigned our farmers market stand so that we can offer more fresh (never frozen) products. We continue to bring fresh chicken every week and are proud to announce that we now periodically offer fresh pork at the Brighton Market as well. Reviews from customers have been swell with folks often telling us that the fresh pork was easier to cook (no lengthy defrost necessary) and the flavor was even tastier than usual.
Our next fresh pork market is tomorrow Sunday, June 25th so please be sure to stop by the Brighton Farmer’s Market and check out the new cooler and fresh pork products including fresh sausage (hot Italian, mild Italian and breakfast), chops, shoulder roasts, ground pork, and tenderloins. Fresh pork will also be available with our usual offerings this Thursday at our Farm Stand from 5-7pm.
Our pasture raised ducks are looking great this year as well. We are only raising 50 ducks this year, which is significantly fewer than we did last year. If you are looking to purchase a few for the season please reserve them soon as these will sell out quickly. They will range between 4-6 lbs and will be available fresh in late July.
We also want to be sure to invite you all to our second annual farm tour on July 15th at 10 am. We loved sharing our farm with our friends, neighbors and customers last year and can’t wait to do it again! Light snacks and coffee will be provided. The tour will leave promptly at 10 so please try to get to the farm on time. Please email us to RSVP with a headcount when you can.
We love providing our community with the highest quality food imaginable. Thank you all for supporting our farm.
