Long before we had all these pigs roaming the pastures.
And before we moved the 200 year old barn to the farm from a few miles down the road (did you know we did this?).
And before we built the Farm Store, Greg and I made a deal with the powers that be.
If the stars aligned, and we were given an opportunity to become organic farmers and grow all this amazing food for our community, we wouldn’t keep it to ourselves. We’d share every bit of it with YOU.
This is why we take the time to share stories with you each week. And it’s also why, from our first year onwards, we’ve always hosted Farm Tours.
Over the past 6 years, we’ve hosted tours for small groups like garden clubs and after school programs. And big groups, like the entire Brighton high school environmental science class.
We’ve done Farm Tours in every season and in just about every weather condition you can imagine – some in the rain and snow, and many more on the most perfect sunny days.
We’ve hosted tours where everything went according to plan. And others where there were a few surprises, like when the sight of two of our enormous pigs breeding (one of which we later learned, had an injured penis!) shocked everyone.
More often than not, with luck on our side, the weather cooperates, and the animals behave. And what really happens as we stroll the 1-2 mile loop around the farm together is a deepening of our connection with each other and a whole lotta fun!
The next tour is happening on July 29th. We hope you can make it.
Your Farmers,
Jenney Greg
