Bacon! That little word gets almost anyone excited about food. Did you know that cooking bacon in the oven makes less of a mess and doesn’t stink up your house as much?
The late Anthony Bourdain said that cooking bacon in the oven makes it cook more evenly and makes it taste even better in this hilarious 2016 interview on NPR’s Fresh Air. We agree 100% and have been cooking it in the oven for quite a while now and figured it was time to share our strategy!
Greg’s Favorite Way to Cook Bacon
1. Preheat oven to 350F (if you like particularly crispy bacon, preheat to 400F).
2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place baking rack (the grate from our toaster oven works perfectly) on top of baking sheet.
3. Spread bacon on rack in a single layer (if you don’t have a rack, skip the foil and line the pan with parchment paper, then spread bacon directly on the paper).
4. Transfer to oven and bake for 12-17 minutes, depending on how crispy you like it (our perfect is usually 13 minutes).
5. Remove from oven to cool for a few minutes. Save the drippings in the pan for cooking later.
6. Enjoy!
