When you’re doubting yourself, being REAL about the internal struggles can be THE BEST medicine. We felt such a huge out-pouring of love and support last week, and to be honest, it was just what we needed. We feel invigorated and appreciate all the kind words of engorgement we received….THANK YOU!

With spring ramping up and a busy summer season on the horizon, we are happy about some changes we’ve made to our business structure this year. We’ve simplified and stream-lined some things so that we can focus on farming and serving our customers. As we bring more focus to our business we’ve also been bringing more attention to taking care of our bodies, our minds, and our relationships. Which brings us to….DATE NIGHTS.

When you love to cook and have constant access to the highest quality organic food like we do, it can be discouraging to check out local restaurant scene.  While many restaurants understand the quality difference with organic veggies, far fewer understand the nuances of conventional meat production and are willing to invest in high quality organically-produced meat for their customers. We’ve found a rare exception and it’s just a short ~ 1 hr drive from Rochester.

We are thrilled to share some photos from our date night last weekend at the Aurora Inn. Over the last 6 months we’ve been supplying their restaurant with whole pigs and it was time to try out what their chef has been creating with our pork. It was the most amazing meal we’ve had in years! The highlights were the charcuterie board, pork belly appetizer, and arancini. The show-stopper was this porchetta (made with Stonecrop Farm pork!) over polenta with a black-walnut glaze.  The ambiance overlooking Cayuga Lake was equally spectacular. We made a day of it and stopped at a few wineries and look forward to more trips exploring the culinary scene in the FLX region this summer.

We wanted to share that we are almost sold out of pig shares for the spring-time with only one 1/2 pig available before June. If you were considering jumping on board to our spring pork share, now is the time.

The deli ham slices were a total hit at market last week. We will have more next week (remember that market is closed this weekend) and aim to keep it in stock over the summertime.

From your Farmers,
Greg and Jenney
