Can you believe it’s almost October? This month has flown by.   We’ve come to realize that fall is most certainly the busiest season on our farm. Harvest time for our ginger and turmeric on top of the usual chicken and pork processing is enough to keep us very busy day in and day out.  Throw in a massive project to take down a 200-yr old timber frame barn and move it to our farm and you might have thought we’d lost our minds.

Fortunately, with a crew of friends (and a few retired farmers), the barn came down without a hitch. All the timbers are now on our farm. We hope to have the barn back together in one piece sometime in late October.  Michelle Lebel of Michelle Lebel Insurance gifted us the barn and we could not be more grateful.  More pics and stories to come!

With the warm fall, the growth of our organic ginger and turmeric has been bananas. We’ve already sold at least 50% of our ginger for the season so if you’re planning to stock up (and freeze for the winter), now is the time to do so. We will have fresh ginger available at the Brighton Farmers Market and our weekly Thursday Farm Store as supplies last.

We are harvesting a limited quantity of turmeric this week as well and expect that it will sell extremely quickly. If you are coming to the market with hopes to pick some up, please email us and let us know how much you would like so we can reserve it for you. The turmeric is bright and even more flavorful than it was last year so you will not be disappointed!

We will have fresh pasture raised pork this week at the Brighton Farmers Market as well!  We will have all of our cuts (including spare ribs, tenderloin, chops and shoulder roasts) back in stock this week. The pork will be fresh, never frozen ensuring the highest quality meat and ease of cooking. You can expect the smoked pork products like bacon and more ham slices to be back in a few weeks.  If you’re interested in ordering an organic pig share and securing a half/whole pig for the winter season, please sign up here. Fall pig shares are sold out, but we do have a few left for the Winter share to be available in February.

Lastly, we wanted to share that we’re now offering gift cards! They are a super practical, meaningful (and can we say classy) gift for a friend, family member or loved one. You can order online or pick up at the farmers market.

We look forward to seeing you soon and thank you again for supporting our family farm.
