We are receiving so much praise for our ginger and turmeric this year and we couldn’t be more grateful! We love to hear all the amazing dishes you’re making and thank those of you who have posted pictures of these amazing roots or shared a favorite recipe on social media.

With the nights getting colder, our hoop house can only do so much to keep the soil temperatures warm enough to keep these roots growing. So, we are winding down the season this week and will bring the last of our fresh ginger and turmeric to the Brighton Market this Sunday.  We’re happy to report that we’ve saved the best for last….the plants we will harvest this afternoon for market tomorrow are the biggest we’ve ever seen! Our ginger and turmeric will freeze for easy use during the winter. So, don’t forget to come stock up for those wintertime teas, roasts, dressings, and stir fries.

This week at market, we will also have tons of fresh pork including chops, belly, ribs, tenderloin, shoulder and loin roasts, sausage (hot, mild and breakfast). A limited supply supply of fresh whole chicken, as well as plenty of will frozen whole chickens and ducks will be available for purchase as well.

Our chicken and egg-shares are ending this week (thank you to all of our share members!). Last spring, we sold many more summer egg shares than we originally anticipated, which is why our egg supply at market has been so low this season. If you want to join our egg share program and guarantee yourself/your family a dozen of our pasture raised and certified organic eggs every week (or every other week), please sign up here. Your payment, in advance, helps support our farm’s bottom line and gives you the flexibility to show up at the market (or farm store) anytime and still get what you want!

We are happy to report that our pasture-raised turkeys are looking amazing!  Despite having a slightly bigger flock this year, we have presold 50% of our birds already. If you have not already put in your deposit for a fresh turkey this year and are planning to do so, reserve your turkey here. Pick up will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving at our farm in Henrietta.

And for those who remain intrigued by the barn rebuild…the project is still underway! We are picking up the replacement lumber from an Amish sawyer early next week and then will start the process of preparing each piece of wood with the holes to join the main structure.  We are aiming to get this beautiful old barn and relic of Henrietta’s rich agricultural history standing again by early next month.  Stay tuned and wish us luck….

All the best,
Greg & Jenney
