It’s that great time of year when the snow is starting to fall and we welcome family and friends to our dinner table. If you’re looking for that special meal for your holiday gathering, we have some great options to impress.
If you liked our turkeys, you’ll love our pasture raised organic ducks. This great recipe from the NY Times by Melissa Clark is our absolute favorite. The simplest roast duck will give you a crispy skin with tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked meat. We recommend cooking your duck over some carrots and potatoes to let them cook in the duck fat drippings. With that in mind, if you buy a duck in the month of December, we’ll give you the quart of our certified organic Red Maria potatoes for free!
This month we will also be featuring fresh hams. Starting with a fresh (uncured and unsmoked) ham is the way to go because it allows you to choose the flavors for your roast! We suggest trying another amazing recipe from the NY Times for Fresh Ham with Maple-Balsamic Glaze. Our hams range between 7-10lbs and we only have 6 more available, so please let us know soon if you’d like one. We’ll also throw in a quart of our organic potatoes if you purchase a ham this December!
We’ll have our certified organic pasture raised whole chickens (4-6lbs), eggs, frozen ginger, and our usual full selection of pork cuts (loin/shoulder roasts, sausage, steaks, etc) available at all of our markets.
You can find us at the indoor winter Brighton Market hours are every Sunday 1pm-4pm at the Brookside Center (220 Idlewood Road, Brighton). Please keep in mind that this market will be closed on December 25th and January 1st, so be sure to stock up on meat and eggs early.
We’ll also be at the U of R Holiday Market on December 21, 2-5pm at the URMC Flaum Atrium.
And as always, you can pick up at our farm in Henrietta by appointment.
We are looking forward to seeing you soon,
Greg and Jenney.
P.S. Thanks for all of the great feedback from our Thanksgiving turkeys. If you’d like to review us on Facebook or Google, we’d really appreciate it!
